The Kalamazoo Blues Festival is hosted every year by the Kalamazoo Valley Blues Association.
Formed in 1993, the KVBA is a board-driven, 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose focus is supporting blues music in and around Kalamazoo.
While the annual festival is arguably the biggest endeavor that the association executes every year, it also strives to strengthen the blues in Kalamazoo through education. As such, you’ll find an education tent at the festival where various workshops and presentations occur throughout the weekend.
The association also awards an annual scholarship every year, the Boogie Bob Peters Memorial Scholarship, to a high school graduate who has been active in organized school and community music programs and who may go into a music-related program in college.
